Did Missing Shannon Matthews Run Away?
Hundreds of police officers are continuing the search this morning for a missing nine-year-old girl.
They are investigating the possibility Shannon Matthews may have ran away from her West Yorkshire home.
The young girl, from Moorside Road, Dewsbury Moor, Dewsbury, was reported missing after she failed to return home from school on Tuesday afternoon.
Around 200 police officers from across the area are helping with the search.
A police spokesman said they were investigating the possibility that Shannon may have told some of her friends she was planning to run away from home.
But her aunt Amanda Hyett said she did not believe the suggestions because "there had not been anything wrong at home".
Shannon's mother Karen yesterday made an emotional plea for her daughter to come home.
She wept as she said: "Shannon, you are a princess in every way, come home.
"Shannon, you are not in trouble, darling, please come home.
"This is the first time Shannon you've done it, we don't know why baby, but we love you."
Describing her daughter, Mrs Matthews said: "She is loving, caring in every way possible, you could not wish for a better child."
She added: "One thing Shannon does not like is dark, cold and everything else."
Police described Shannon as white, around 4ft 1in and slim, with shoulder-length, medium-brown hair, which was possibly tied up in a ponytail.
She has blue eyes and freckles.
She was wearing a black school jumper with a school logo on it, a white cotton T-shirt, black trousers and a black, waist-length coat with fur round the hood.
She was also wearing pink and grey "Bratz" furry boots.
