Miracle Of Lost Boys

Parents of two kidnapped boys, one of whom had been missing for four years, have called their safe return a miracle.
Families of 15-year-old Shawn Hornbeck and 13-year-old Ben Ownby told of their tearful reunions and the almost unbelievable discovery of the boys in a tiny apartment in a St Louis suburb on Friday.

Michael Devlin, 41, has been charged with kidnapping.

Detectives found Shawn, who disappeared in 2002, when they raided the home of Devlin 60 miles from where the boy went missing.

They had been looking for 13 year-old Ben Ownby, who had vanished earlier this week.

Both boys are said to be unharmed and in good health.

Ben had last been seen after he stepped off his school bus and ran toward his home.

A friend who left the bus with him told authorities that after the two parted he had seen a small white pickup truck speeding away from where Ben had been walking.

A break in the case came on Thursday night when a white truck matching the description was spotted at a St Louis apartment building.

Officers raided the flat and found Ben and were shocked to find another boy, who identified himself as Shawn Hornbeck.

He had disappeared from his home in rural Washington County in October 2002, when he was 11. He had gone for a bike ride and never returned.

According to the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, about 58,000 children are abducted by strangers in the US every year.

The vast majority are returned safely.

I read that today - good news - hope the boys will be ok and not scarred as aresult of their ordeal.

Karen i just felt really overwhelmed by this, it isnt new news BUT its positive to hear that so many who are abducted ARE found safe and well.

What a wonderful story, it has brought tears to my eyes. Just goes to show, there is ALWAYS hope and searching for these kids must be kept up.
